The Art Room, January 2018 - August 2026

Just like your favorite tv show, it eventually comes to an end and the actors go on to make a new show. It never feels good to hear that news, but, as we come to our final season of The Art Room, that has been the best metaphor to make it all a little easier.

We are getting ready to finish 6 years of creating with you at 408 Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs. What started as a 3 month idea to create with kids in a large space during the summer of 2020, has turned into a place that has creatively served all ages of humans. I’m so proud to have worked with some AMAZING artists and instructors that I can also call my friends. I have also formed some wonderful and loving relationships with students that will forever be tied to my heart strings. You all have trusted me to guide you to see creativity in a new way, and I had no idea that I would learn to love a new person each time you all walked into our space.

Every person that comes into the studio falls in love with the space. There is something precious and magical about the exposed brick walls, cheesy-foam ceilings, and the big giant windows that let in so much light, that just welcomes every color, paint splat, paper scrap, lost bead and sprinkle that found its way into our projects.

We will all remember our time together and the memories that we can still make in the next few months. I have decided my time has come to an end running The Art Room. Our lease ends in September which is where our journey will close. So, the good news is, we have a whole Spring Semester for 14 Weekly classes and then 8 weeks of Summer Camp! We will also keep running our weekend events and birthday parties.

If you are a seasoned patron, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. If you have been following along all these years hoping to sign up for something, now is the time to get your creativity sparked before we close! If you know me, I love hugs and high fives, I imagine there will be quite a bit of them in the next 6 months, along with some tears. But we are here for it all! We love Walnut Street and hope to see it continue to grow and change for the better with new plans and businesses developing.

I’m not moving, and still will be creating in Clay County, so if you want to keep up with my art and adventures after we close, you can find me on instagram @heatherivydesigns and email me at heatherivydesigns@gmail.com. Now, sign up for a class and let’s create our way into this new year!

XOXOXOX, Heather Ivy, Artist, Instructor & Owner of The Art Room

Mission of The Art Room:
When you are little, art is constant, daily, playful. When you are little you are always drawing, coloring, building, squishing, watching, imagining, expanding your understanding of the world around you. As you grow up, there is a change. That change tells some kids that they aren’t good at art, don’t have time for their imagination, need to focus on more important things. Suddenly, art is gone for those kids. Other kids find a way to keep art and they may be considered artsy, creative, weird, fun, silly, distracted, lost, balanced. As you go through school, the kids who have chosen to keep art in their lives have a place at school called “The Art Room”. It’s a magical place. The kids who chose a different path, may wonder about the art room, wish they were artistic or brave enough for the art room. Those kids grow into adults and claim “I’m not an artist, I can’t draw, I wish I were creative!” The artists know the truth, all are created to create in their own way, all one needs is to explore their gifts.

The Art Room is here for you, The Art Room is ready for those who have a wish, a hope, a sparkle that needs to be set free with no rules. The Art Room will release you from the routine of the responsibilities of adulting, studying, living. The Art Room will connect you to this world that doesn’t make sense and give back some love and kindness that it needs.

The Art Room is your safe place to come if you are a human who wants and needs a creative outlet, to expand your mind and try new things. The Art Room is for you to come and play.

Welcome To The Art Room LLC officially began small with homeschool and after school classes in January 2018.

Now that we are on Walnut street we have 4 weekly teachers and many guest artists teaching in the studio! We welcome ALL humans and all abilities.
