CLASSES ARE NOT SOLD OUT. IT ONLY SAYS THAT BECAUSE FALL REGISTRATION IS NOT OPEN YET… WE WILL SEND OUT AN EMAIL (subscribe to emails on our homepage) AND POST ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA WHEN REGISTRATION OPENS UP! WE ARE OPENING AND STARTING CLASSES IN SEPTEMBER. WE HAVE TO WAIT ON A FEW LOGISTICS THAT ARE OUT OF OUR CONTROL BEFORE WE CAN OPEN UP REGISTRATION.
Skills we will learn:
- How to operate and thread your machine
- How to insert/remove sewing needle
- How to adjust tension
- How to handle sewing scissors, cut fabric and use a seam ripper
- How to sew curves
- How to maintain an even seam allowance
OR: Private Intro to your Machine Class ($60 for 2 hours; includes a small pillow project): Ms. Erin will travel to your home! If you prefer a private class, you do not need to register for the Beginner Classes. Simply email erin.boyer22@gmail.com to schedule.
BASIC SUPPLIES needed for all Sewing Classes:
- GOOD fabric scissors ($10+)
- extra empty bobbins that fit your machine (do not by pre-wound bobbins)
- seam ripper

________
Ms. Erin will be leading your beginner sewing class adventure!
This sewing class is 7 weeks long. Each class will build on the previous class with built-in "catchup days". This is a beginner sewing class for all ages. This class will explore projects and ideas to grow their knowledge in machine and hand sewing as well as hand embroidery art.
We will be learning basic sewing techniques by creating pouches, pillows, and MORE!
If you have a machine at home that you will be using, please bring it to class each week. It’s important to learn on the machine you will be using. IF you do not have a machine to bring, you may pay an extra fee ($40 one time) to use a class machine while you decide if you want to purchase your own machine.
We recommend full size machines for this class. The small “beginner” or “child-friendly” machines are too small and not worth the short amount of time they would be used. Your child will learn the proper procedures and safety protocols needed to handle a full size machine. They will have much more success for a longer time using a standard sized machine.
If you have an older machine that you do not know if it works or not, please email erin.boyer22@gmail.com to set up a time to drop it off for maintenance prior to the class. There is a $50 fee to clean and oil the machine.
Machine Recommendations:
Singer Heavy Duty or Simple. We do not recommend buying a digital machine.
