INTRO TO YOUR MACHINE CLASS: August 19th or Oct 14, $35

New Students: You must take the “Intro to your machine” class before the semester begins. If you are comfortable with your machine and have been sewing for a while, you may be excused from this class, but please call to discuss.

NEW TEACHER!!! Ms.Eva will be leading the next adventure in sewing classes this fall.

This sewing class is 7 weeks long. Each class will build on the previous class with built-in "catchup days". This is a beginner sewing class for all ages. This class will explore projects and ideas to grow their knowledge in machine and hand sewing as well as hand embroidery art

We will be learning basic sewing techniques by creating pouches with and without zippers, basic patchwork skills to create our own fabric to be made into  tote bags, pillows or blankets! And MORE. We will also have the opportunity to flex our creative muscles. We will be drawing our own stuffie and problem solving how to bring  our 2D creation into the 3D world..

If you have a machine at home that you will be using, please bring it to class each week. It’s important to learn on the machine you will be using. IF you do not have a machine to bring, you may pay an extra fee ($40 one time) to use a class machine while you decide if you want to purchase a machine. We recommend full size machines for this class. The small “beginner” or “child friendly” machines are too small and not worth the short amount of time these would be used. Your child will learn the proper safety protocols and how to  handle a full size machine. They will have much more success for a longer time using a standard sized machine.

BASIC SUPPLIES for all Sewing Classes:

- GOOD fabric scissors ($10+)
- extra empty bobbins that fit your machine (do not by pre-wound bobbins)
- seam ripper
- box of sewing clips (100 for $10 on amazon)
-FABRIC: amounts for specific projects will be announced well in advance but most projects you can choose something from our stash

Machine Recommendations:

Singer Heavy Duty or Simple. We do not recommend buying a digital machine. If you have an older machine that you do not know if it works or not, please email heather@welcometotheartroom.com to set up a time to drop it off for maintenance prior to the class. This is a $50 fee to clean and oil machine.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

IF the instructor has to cancel class for emergency reasons (personal or environmental) and we cannot find a replacement teacher, we will contact you as soon as possible through the Remind App. We will have makeup class at the end of the session.

If your student cannot attend a class during the session, there are no makeups or forwarded payments. Signing up for the class ensures your spot in the class. Lessons will be built on the previous weeks lesson and increase in difficulty as the semester goes on. If you missed the beginner classes, please look to sign ups for classes at the beginning of the next semester.
